Lesson twenty, a weighty problem. Part one, dialogue.
Eve and Aden are talking. Eve begins, she asks a question.
"Do you know I've put on five kilos since going out with you?"
Aden asks,
"Why is that?"
And she tells him,
"You are always taking me to fancy restaurants. "
He explains,
"Well, you don't have to eat so much when we eat out, you know. "
But she says,
"But I can't resist all the delicious food. "
He adds,
"Besides, it's not cheap, "
And she agrees,
"I guess you are right. Maybe I should start cooking again."
Aden turns pale, and says,
"Uhh...let's forget about your weight problem. Ok? I don't care how fat you are."
She's happy to hear that, and says,
"Really?"
So this is so so a (note) the interesting lesson, what's the point that this dialogue wants to tell us?
It wants to tell us that Eve is a very bad cook.
Right.
I think we're ready to introduce this word to our listeners, just yesterday, which of about this word, imply, so we can see, say that this dialog implies that Eve is a very bad cook.
Now tell us the difference between cook and cooker.
Ahh, good point. Many of my students say, for example, my father is a good cooker, 。。。呢。。。不对。 应该是 My father is a good cook. Your father uses a cooker to cook rice. A rice cooker can be used to prepare rice or many other dishes, which may be delicious, if I don't cook them.
cooker是用来烹饪的工具。
cook是人，厨师。
如果是餐厅里，有一个法国字，是什么？

a weighty problem, 一个很沉重的， 这个weighty原来指的是什么意思啊？

其实这里是故意用这个字的，因为weight指是你的体重。所以也是一个体重的问题。 双关语。

这里的put on就等于gain. 这里的since是介词。

The word kilo is short for kilograms.
go out with a girl/boy, 并不是指一定要出去，而是指男女之间交往约会用的。
Ales and Sam have been going out with each other for two years.
也可以用date这个字来说。
Ales and Sam have been dating for two years.
I am going out with Mary tonight.
I am dating Mary tonight.
I will be on the date with Mary tonight.
on a date with sb. 的用法也是一样的。 这里date 作名词解。
But unfortunately, Brouse doesn't know how to use this expression, in his dictionary, there's no such word as date. I feel sorry.

意思就是说brouse从来没有约会过。

Why I can spell that word so easily?
